This group is for investors interested in learning more about rental properties, foreclosures, short sales, contracts sales, and anything else real estate. Guest speakers will be invited to attend to educate the group on more in depth knowledge on different topics. Our meetings are normally held at 6:30pm on the first Tuesday of the month unless we have a special event.  We meet at the Elite First Realty office located at 1853 51st St NE, Cedar Rapids, IA.
 

Save the date! Our next Cedar Rapids Real Estate Club meeting is on Tuesday, February 7th at 6:30pm. We will be meeting at Elite First Realty which is located at 1853 51st St NE. Our guest speaker for the evening will be Mari Davis. 

Mari Davis has been a Realtor/broker in the Cedar Rapids area with an emphasis in rental property management since 1999 and is a member of the Cedar Rapids Area Association of Realtors CRAAR), the Iowa Realtors Association (IAR) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR).   Mari has served as a professional receiver in business and estates. 
Mari and her husband became “accidental” rental property owners beginning in 1983 and have invested in additional properties in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area.  Mari also owned a rental referral program, Home Locators, which subsequently has become Home Locators Realty, through which Mari offers not only the fee based customized rental referral program but rental tours of area homes.  In addition to the educational requirements required to become a Realtor/broker, Mari has a BS degree from Iowa State University with a double major in Home Economics Journalism/Public Relations and Family Counseling and has taken graduate level coursework in public administration, housing and social work.   Prior to becoming involved in real estate, Mari worked as a legal assistant in both the public and private sectors, served as a professional guardian/conservator, was a national legal educational consultant, and served as a county director for a community action program in central Iowa.  She has also taught business education, legal assistant education and other courses and has authored several how-to articles, service and training manuals, newspaper and magazine articles.  Mari also worked for Parsons Technology and supervised the document side in developing legal software. 
Since the June 2008 floods, Mari has been actively involved in various business and community committees/groups including the Cedar Rapids Small Business Recovery Group CRSBRG)and the Chamber of Commerce Small Business Task Force, and co-founded FILL (Flood Impacted Landlords).  Working with city staff and council members and the mayor of Cedar Rapids, she assisted in the development of the Landlord Rehab Program using LOST funds and has been involved in efforts to edit language in Chapter 29 (Code Enforcement) and Chapter 69 (Civil Rights) and has made numerous appearances before Cedar Rapids city council advocating for flood protection for neighborhoods, specific programming for rental property in Cedar Rapids, and, along with several members of the CRAAR, is actively promoting re-establishment of a housing commission in Cedar Rapids which recently elected at large councilwoman, Ann Poe, made part of her campaign platform.
